| The DBE Welcomes New Members | |||||||
|
The DBE in Massachusetts welcomes new members and would like to form new chapters throughout the Commonwealth. Currently, we meet on the third Thursday evening of each month at members' homes in the Metro West area. The DBE is a charitable, non-profit, non-political, non-sectarian, voluntary American society of women of British or Commonwealth birth or ancestry. Its members range from professionals, businesswomen, homemakers, students and retirees with common interests and heritage, who meet regularly for business and social events with the common cause of philanthropy. The Society is active in 30 states across the U.S.A., organised into four districts: Eastern, Southern, Western and Mid-Western. Each District supports a home for the aged. We support Victoria Home in Ossining, NY, as well as local charities, including The Natick Service Council, The Worcester Food Bank, A Place to Turn Food Pantry, SMOC (a mental health outpatient center), and local shelters. Members of more than 200 Chapters hold monthly meetings, annual District Meetings and a yearly National Convention. They engage in varied fundraising and community events throughout the year. We organise fundraising events including British Afternoon Teas, Holiday gift wrapping and take part in community events such as Heritage Days, county fairs, Holiday parades and festivals. We hold social events including pool parties, Bunco evenings, a yearly winter evening get-together at a local restaurant and holiday parties with spouses and friends. Close and lasting friendships are made with those of common heritage. If you would like to have fun and make friends with those of common heritage whilst providing service to Victoria Home and your local community, are interested in enjoying the benefit of membership of a National Society with a rich history of philanthropy and fellowship, then please review the eligibility for membership and contact us for more information.
